The German University in Cairo (GUC) was established in 2002 by presidential decree as a cooperative effort between Egyptian and German universities. As the first integrated German university outside Germany, GUC represents a landmark achievement in international educational collaboration, supported by multiple German institutions including DAAD and the German Ministry of Education. GUC is a non-profit private institution that focuses on integrating academia, research, and industry together. The university offers 71 total study programs (31 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate) across three Bologna cycles: Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and PhD. Academic programs cover diverse fields including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Management, and more. The campus spans an impressive 577,000 square meters and includes a 70,400 m² sports area and a 77,500 m² industrial park - making it the first university in Africa and the Middle East with an integrated industrial park. In 2012, GUC expanded internationally by establishing a Berlin campus to promote research collaboration. GUC maintains strong partnerships with prestigious German universities in Ulm, Stuttgart, Tübingen, and Mannheim. The university is accredited by ACQUIN, ensuring international recognition of its degrees. With approximately 10,000 undergraduate students and over 500 postgraduate students, GUC emphasizes practical, industry-connected education that promotes scientific and cultural cooperation between Egypt and Germany.
